Washington D.C's DURKL Releases Waterproof Messenger Bag. DURKL and ORTLIEB, a German
outdoor goods company, have produced a limited edition messenger bag for the Washington,
D.C. based brand's Spring/Summer 2010 collection. For over 25 years, ORTLIEB has
set the standard in the field of high functional outdoor equipment. From day one,
their brand target has remained the same: individuals who actively spend their leisure
time in nature should feel independent from all facts they cannot influence, in
other words: from the weather. The 30-liter DURKL messenger bag is constructed of
PVC and high density Cordura making it completely impenetrable to water and dust,
while allowing the bag to both float and hold water as well A roll-top closure system,
and rucksack construction further enhance the technical capabilities. The DURKL
collaboration bag features a custom U.S.A. colorway with a custom D.C. flag 3M ink
print on the sides, white detailing, and an interior snap-in/snap-out organizer.
Available on Saturday, 5/1/2010 exclusively at http://www.DURKL.com

The staff of the Rio Beni Health Project, a community-based health initiative located
in the northwest rainforest of Bolivia, thanks Ortlieb USA for their very generous
product contributions over the past 3 years. The Project provides outreach primary
health care and health education to 45 isolated villages in the upper Amazon Basin,
working directly with local health authorities and community leaders. Over the years
38 community health workers, or health promoters, have been trained and are responsible
for much of the health care in their respective villages. Because our work is primarily
outreach, we travel by river and 4WD on a regular schedule. The need for rugged
and impermeable duffle and shoulder bags is great; so three years ago I contacted
Ortlieb USA about the possibility of a donation of rack packs, sling-its and a number
of Zip City shoulder bags. To this day we use 8-10 the medium and large rack packs
for hauling our medical supplies and personal supplies by road and river. Our health
promoters use the Zip Citys and small Rack Packs for their travels and medical kits.
Thanks you to Ortlieb USA for their generous donations and reduced prices. The red
rack packs are now synonymous throughout the Beni Region of the rainforest with
improved health care and education in areas that never before had access to it.
Looking for the cycling adventure of a lifetime? Head over to our friends at Western
Spirit and check out this year's trips. You will be amazed. They use Ortlieb waterproof
duffels to keep all your personal items clean and dry.
